I'm thinking of the camp at GMU... Has anyone attended the program? Is it legitimate, or a bit too lax?

GMU has a good reputation. I myself have never been to a debate camp, though the camps with the most repute are Harvard and VBI.

GMIF is a great camp, especially for Extemp, which is what I'll be attending. This year is, I believe, the first year that they'll be offering PF, so I'm not sure on the quality, but for all other events, it's top of the line.
